Doing foolish things.....

I find I do a lot of foolish things but it's nice to have enthusiasm so that sometimes when I do those foolish things it is kind of fun and I can feel more positive about it.  One rather lacking in good judgement thing I've done is to try and fix a dishwasher. It didn't go too well and resulted in some minor flooding but in the end the machine did get fixed and I was able to laugh a bit about it later. While I don't advocate for trying to fix large equipment without knowledge of how to do so, I figure as long as you can find something to laugh about in handling a difficult situation it's not so bad. I've always thought that there's something nice about being stylish and I do believe that happiness is part of being stylish because doing things like getting all dressed up and looking good does make me feel happier. So wherever you are reading this, I hope you live stylishly in happiness.

I really like this quote. I always found it interesting how people fear getting old. I feel like as long as one is able to live in the moment and find things in life to enjoy each day, then growing older isn't so daunting.  My hope for everyone is that they can find good things that are in their lives and something to enjoy in each day and look forward to for the days to come. My parents dog would probably tell me never to stop petting him but please for the love of god stop using the squeaky exercise bike in the garage as it drives him crazy.

A question for today

 At my work during team meetings we've started each meeting as a check in with each staff member answering a fun question as doing that seems to cheer people up. So to that end, I've decided to post a fun question here as food for thought:

The importance of a little foolishness

This quote made me think about how this evening when I was eating dinner with my family we spent a lot of time laughing and telling jokes and it really was so nice to be able to be silly for a while. Awesome Inaugural poem

 I was so happy to see a young woman named Amanda Gorman ( watch the clip below) reading a poem she wrote for President Joe Biden's inauguration called "The Hill We Climb".  I liked it very much because to me, it's all about keeping hopeful and recognizing that although we live in a difficult time things can get better and there's a lot everyone can do to make things better. Celebrating Dolly Parton

 The singer Dolly Parton was born today in 1946 and in honor of her birthday I thought I'd share a song i really like that she's famous for singing. The song is called 9 to 5 and I like it because it's fun and it's about finding the good in the job you do no matter the obstacles you might face. Life's pesistent and urgent question

 As it's Martin Luther King Jr. Day and that got me thinking about this quote by Dr. King because it reinforces how important to help and care about people. I was looking at some old photos of my family that were taken on family vacations when I was very young.  Since I can't go far from home now, looking at the photos made me think of good times my family and I had together and thinking of those things helps me feel better.  The singer Joan Baez was born today in 1941 and so I thought I'd share a song she covered called "Forever Young". I like this particular song because it's all about hoping the best for others and encouraging people to remain young at heart. A story of caring

 I saw this story today that rather cheered me up. It’s about a woman in Utah who has a disability and needed help with preparing to move from her wheelchair to her bed at night. Some of this woman’s neighbors agreed to help her and they continue to do so. I just thought the story was really nice to see this story as it demonstrates how good people can be. If at some point you’re able to help someone in a small or big way, I hope you can take that opportunity and see what good things come from your actions. A song for today

 To say today has been difficult is a gross understatement but I couldn't help thinking of a song that always helps me feel better. I post it here to send love to everyone.

The greatest happiness

 I really like this quote because I figure the fact that people don't necessarily require happiness means that people can appreciate the good feeling of happiness even more when it is truly  felt. A note about Lord of the Rings Return of the King

 The author J.R.R. Tolkien was born today in 1892 and to celebrate this date I thought I'd share something I liked about the Return of the King book that he wrote as part of the Lord of the Rings series. In that book there's a part in the story that tells of how a hobbit named Merry and a woman named Eowyn kill an evil king that supposedly couldn't be killed. While I don't advocate for violence or killing, this part of the story does remind me that no one's worth should be discounted and people working together can bring down most of the evils in the world and that's a comforting thought. In case you haven't seen the film based on this book,  just for fun  I've enclosed a clip of the scene enacting the story I described. Even dogs and cats can help each other

 I saw this story about a dog who essentially adopted a kitten. I liked the story because it shows how even animals who are traditionally known to dislike each other can still help each other. Hope for the new year

 My hope always is that each new year and each day in it will be happier than the previous year/day.  I suppose that perhaps that hope really is to find happy things in each day.
