I find this quote encouraging because I feel like most of the time I don't know what's coming but I do know that because I've gotten through what came before, then I have a sense of certainty that I can meet what comes, whether it's good or bad and get through it. I think that's true of people in general. It always puzzles me when people say they don't think they could do/go through things that other people have gone through. I think that if people have to go through something, they do it and they get through it.  I think people in general are so brave and many don't even know it.  I hope that if you're reading this and you're going through something difficult that you can know that you'll get through it because you've come this far in life and life and the only way to go is forward! Keep fighting the good fight! I'm rooting for you! 

Favorite Picture From Prince Edward Island

Today my family and I left Prince Edward Island to return home from our vacation. It really is a beautiful place and we all had a wonderful time. I'm glad we still have pictures to remember the trip. Below is a picture I took of the view outside of where we were staying on the island. I like it best because it's pretty and when I look back at it, I'll think of the fun we had there and I'll smile.

As I'm in Prince Edward Island where the author Lucy Maude Montgomery set her Anne of Green Gables novels, I felt I should share a quote from Anne of Green Gables that I've always liked. It always surprises me when people say life isn't exciting because I've found that even when I thought my day was going to be just the same as the previous day, there are times when things happen that I don't expect. It's just nice to relax

Being on vacation makes me think of how nice it is just to relax and live in the moment. It's nice to just think about how nice things are and that I'm happy and with my family.  If I had a wish for everyone I'd wish that everyone has a chance to live in the moment and see how good life can be!

Beach Day

I was able to go to the beach today with my family and I loved it! There's something nice about watching water. It's soothing to me. I like the sea especially because if you look at it in certain parts, it seems like it doesn't end. There's just lots of blue and even if it might be treacherous at times, I can't help but like it. Plus, bocce ball which was also fun.  (Bocce ball is a game where you have to throw balls as close as possible to a smaller ball and you get points for getting your ball closest to the smaller ball.) The weather was lovely and all in all, it was a nice day out with my family!

On holiday but still at home

I'm in Prince Edward Island now where my family has rented a house. When we got to the island there was lots of farms and green space and because I grew up on a farm it really reminded me of where I grew up in Michigan. Since it was raining my family and I turned on the TV and lo and behold the channels that came up were from Detroit, Michigan! I didn't mind this a bit because as much as I love to travel I also love being home and being with my family because I'm happy when I'm with them and when I'm at home. So even though I'm on vacation it's still nice to know that I can feel it home!

If I could wish one thing for everyone, I'd wish everyone good friends! It's a great comfort to know my friends are always there for me and I'll always be there for them. We give each other strength and I think that's the best thing about friendship!

I don't want to postpone being happy as happiness is too good a thing to pass up. There is always something to be happy about, however small that thing may be. If I can find just one thing each day to be happy about, then every day has a bit of good in it and when things are hard, that's what I hold on to, because life ultimately is good!

This made me smile today

I saw this clip in a news article about kids meeting their sports heroes and I really liked it because I just like seeing people (especially children) so happy. I just think it's nice to meet someone who is your hero and it makes me smile to think of someone's day that's been made brighter by meeting someone they look up to. Anyway, for all these reasons, this clip made me smile!

I find I'm impressed at the good things people can do which is why it's always surprised me when people say "oh, I don't think I could do that." I think what people do is just a matter of what people are willing to do. I know that things get difficult but I've stopped believing things are impossible to do. While I might not climb Mount Everest (due to  health and safety reasons) and I might not eat bugs any time soon, (although I haven't ruled it out, as I like to maintain a sense of adventure, even if it's only in my head). However, it's nice to live with the knowledge that if there's something good that I know I have to do, then I can do it. It might take a while but things get done when they need to be done. What I love most about people is the awesome things people can do and do end up doing and when these things are done, they're often marvelous things to behold. There's so many awesome things people can do. It's just a matter of getting on with it!

Sending out a message to Nice and Turkey

Action!

It's the actor Harrison Ford's birthday and as he was in many action movies, it got me thinking about what I'd be if I could be in an action movie. I think I'd like to be a detective because I rather like solving puzzles. To me writing is kind of like a puzzle because I have all these ideas and it's just a matter of getting them to fit together in a way that makes sense and (hopefully) sounds good.  If I couldn't be a detective, I think I wouldn't mind being a Minion, they get into all sorts of action. I like that Minions are beings that make a career out of being bad, breaking every rule ever made and just generally getting into all possible sorts of trouble. A friend of mine said that he felt that I like Minions so much because I could be "bad" through them. Maybe that's true, I just think they're fun and so that's why I wouldn't mind being one!

A little comfort

I read a story in the news today about how a moment of comfort came in an unlikely place. A French man who was devastated by the fact that France's national team lost to Brazil in the Euro 2016 football final, was comforted by a Brazilian boy who gave him a hug. I liked the story best because it shows an act of kindness can take less than a minute and to me, it's always nice to help people feel better and to see people helping each other. It reminds me of how good people can be to each other, which helps me to continue to have faith in humanity. At least for today, let me say that people rock!

As it's Monday I found this clip that made me laugh a lot. I thought it was appropriate for this blog because it involves animals that are typically found in Antarctica which is a region that I'm trying to reach through this blog. I know wifi must be wicked expensive for scientists up there but if they're really board I'm hoping they might read this. At the very least I'm hoping this video will attract a penguin!

I really think that love can be found almost anywhere and I think that's one of the best qualities of love. I like to think a little bit of love is in all of the good things people do for each other. I see it every day. It's just a matter of looking for it. One  act of love that inspired me to follow his example was a man in Australia who went out into the city where he lived and gave hugs to people who needed them. Someone filmed him doing this and you can see how much a hug meant to some people. I found this to be true when I did a similar event in Boston. Those events showed me how more love is needed in the world and how a little more love makes all the difference to people's lives. Below is the video that inspired me. Whenever I see it, I can't help but feel good inside!

Minions for another Friday!

I find I just really can't help myself when it comes to Minions, they never cease to make me happy. My friend shared this short clip with me and like most things to do with Minions, it really made me laugh and I just had to share it. A happy Friday everyone!

Beautiful

I believe that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I figure as long as I can walk out the door in the morning and feel happy in my own skin, then I feel pretty damn beautiful. With that in mind, I saw this ad today and it really struck a cord with me.  I realize it's a soap commercial but I still like it. I really believe there's beauty in everyone and it's just a matter of finding that beauty. When I feel like I've found the beauty in myself, all I can say is that in my mind I feel like the beauty comes shining out. Even if no one else sees it, I see it, and that's what matters to me.  I hope everyone finds the beauty that is in them.

Happy 4th of July from Maggie and the Minions!

I want to wish everyone in the US a very Happy 4th of July. I've included the picture below in this post just because a 4th of July celebration doesn't seem complete without a Minion involved! Even if the 4th of July isn't a holiday for you, I hope you can feel a sense of freedom in your life just because it's a nice feeling to have.

Movie in the Park

I had an awesome time last night! I went to watch the Minions movie on the lawn in front of the Prudential Center with my friend Olivia.  (For those who don't know the Minions movie is about this little yellow beings that wreak havoc everywhere and serve the most evil villain they can find!) Anyway, I really like watching movies outside and this one was fun to watch especially because there were a lot of little kids around.  I think watching movies like that with little kids is actually more fun. It's just nice to hear them laugh.  I do know though that Olivia and I were laughing so hard that after a while we started to notice that this big gap had grown in a circle around us because people had moved so they could hear the movie better! Clearly Olivia and I create a ruckus!

Supermen/women in my life

The comic book character Superman first appeared in DC Comics' Action Comics Series issue #1 for the first time today in 1938. This got me thinking about all the "Supermen" and "Superwomen" in my life. Some of these individuals include:

• My parents and siblings: Their superpower is the fact that I know that when I'm with them, even if we disagree, somehow I know things will come out all right in the end between us. It's a very comforting thing to know.
• My friends: They have the uncanny ability to always make me laugh and feel good when I'm with them. 
• My coworkers. They keep going even if the going gets tough! I think that's why I love them.
• Minions-I can't state enough how super they are!
• My family's dog Dougal: He is super smart. If he wants you to play frisbee with him he'll use his nose to push the frisbee ass far as he can under a car in our driveway and then he'll bark and bark and bark until someone gets irritated enough to get the frisbee out from under the car. Then of course, (after making all that effort to get the frisbee out from under the car) you just have to throw it to him!

I believe everyone is a superhero to somebody. Maybe we don't all fly without wings, but we can love each other and I think that's the best superpower we all have. 

I'm so proud of my parents!

I'm so happy because as of yesterday my parents have been married 38 years! They really have stuck it out through everything and they're still having fun and enjoying life. They've traveled the world together and have taken me and my siblings along for (some of) the ride. I think what I like best about my parents is their humor. They laugh with and at each other in the best way.  They are great parents and really great friends too and I think that's a winning combination! I love them so much and best of all they love my siblings and me. There's a lot of love in our family and to me, that's how it should be!
