Why I’m thankful that Google is called Google

Since I use Google a lot as it makes my life easier, I was interested to find out that initially, Google wasn’t going to be called Google. The original name for the search engine Google was “Backrub”. It was eventually named Google after the googol, (he number one followed by 100 zeros.) I for one am super glad the Google people chose to call their search engine Google rather than Backrub. I can't imagine being able to tell someone with a straight face: "I'll just backrub it!"

A chance to do your best

I like the idea that problems present opportunities, it makes me feel better to think that if I have to go through something difficult, if I do the very best I can to get through it, it doesn't seem so bad. In the end, I can look back and know that I got through something and because of that, I know I can work through whatever might come afterwards and that's a very comforting thought.  Wherever you are reading this, if you have to go through something difficult, I hope that you can come out of it knowing that you got through the difficulty in the best way you could at the time. Gratitude for today

 In keeping with my goal of finding things to be grateful for in each day, today I'm grateful for the fact that I was able to take a nice walk and see some of my friends. Gratitude

 I was sent a gratitude diary by a friend today. It's actually really nice because it has a series of prompts that help you think about things that are good in your life. The more I look at it, the more I realize just how much I have to be grateful for and there really are so many things for which I am truly grateful. One thing I'm grateful for today was that I was able to meet (albeit online) with friends and talk with them and learn from them.  I was thinking today of how what I want most is to help people as doing that is something that makes me feel really happy and fulfilled. A helping hand

 I saw this lovely clip of a little kid that was helping an elderly lady get up some stairs. It always warms my heart to see people being kind to each other and especially when kids are kind. Three good things that happened today

 As a follow up from yesterday, here are 3 more good things that happened to me today.

• Today I was able to help someone smile which is something that always helps me feel happy. 
• I had a singing lesson which is something I always enjoy.
• Now that it's been 2 weeks since I got the COVID vaccine I made plans to see a friend in person next week and am really excited about that!

Things I was happy about today

 In keeping with my efforts to think of good things that happen in each day, here are 3 good things that happened in my day today:

1. I got everything done that I intended to get done-this was very satisfying!
2. I had a lovely chat with some very good friends online -it's always nice to do that. 
3. I made myself a nice spaghetti dinner-it tasted really good.

A happy dog!

 My family's dog Gus decided today would be an excellent day to go for a swim in a hot tub. I felt I needed to share the picture here because (at least to me) Gus just looks s pleased with himself and there's nothing like seeing a happy dog! A circle of song

 Today I heard a lovely version of the hymn "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" that was sung by a women's choir.  I liked it because even just seeing people singing together has always helped me feel happier.  As it made me feel uplifted I felt I had to share it here.

A dog makes friends with a duck

Be still

I was thinking today about how many forms of love there are and even though each form of love may be different and mean different things to different people, it doesn't mean each form of love is less valuable than any other. A song for my Mum

 It's my Mum's birthday today and in honor of this day I thought I'd post a song that she loves called Someone To Watch Over Me. I also like it because it reminds me of how even though I'm technically an adult and am living away from her, she's still watching over me. So I dedicate this post to my Mum and all mothers who watch over their children no matter what.

A really happy day

Today is my birthday and that got me thinking about the fact that I'm blessed that each of my birthdays has always had something happy in it. An April Fool's joke

 As it's April Fool's Day I thought I'd post this joke that I feel it's really funny. I hope everyone had a gret April Fool's Day. I send everyone best wishes and much love always.

A man buys a train ticket to go to New York City on April 4. The ticket costs $44 and he notices that the ticket number is 4444. He finds the train at platform 4 and his seat is in train car 4, seat number 44. The train leaves at exactly 4:44.

When he arrives, he goes to the hotel that is on 44 West 44th Street and for some reason the hotel room number is 444.

The man is a it spooked by all these fours following him, but he gets an idea. He goes to the race track and places a $44 444 bet on horse number 4.

And, believe it or not, >!horse number 4 finishes at 4th place!
