It's really sunny where I am today and even if that means it's really hot, I still can't help feeling cheerful when I see the sunshine. Even though I can't stay out in the heat for health reasons, seeing the sunshine is enough to help me go about my day feeling good. I was always told that I don't have to be the best, I just have to do my best. Two thing I've found that gave always been really helpful are hope and patience. I was thinking today of how it's always nice to have something to look forward to. My parents who I love very much are coming to visit tomorrow and when I think of that it does make me smile. I've always felt happy when I'm with them. Growing up I found that no matter what was happening I did always feel safe with them. In times when I feel like I have a lot to do and life feels overwhelming, I find that it does help to be calm and enjoy things that are around me like nature and the sunshine. I find it easier to do this in summer when it's warm outside and I can go outside more easily than when it's cold. It's the actor Patrick Stewart's birthday and in celebration of his birthday, I thought I'd share a video of him reading a sonnet. During the beginning months of the pandemic Patrick Stewart created videos of himself reading one of William Shakespeare's sonnets each day for a few months. One of the sonnets he read was Sonnet 116 which is one of my favorites. I like it because to me it describes how love doesn't change even when people change, love is lasting. 1-I was able to go to my workplace's office and my coworker gave me not just one but two post cards she'd bought for me while she was on vacation.
2-I was able to meet with some friends that I hadn't seen in a while and it was fun talking with them.
3-I wore a pretty dress today and it made me feel good to do that

It's Disability Pride Month and so I thought I'd write about why I'm rather proud to have a disability. I think in many ways having a disability has shaped who I am and how I view people and the world generally. Iy'm proud that having a disability has allowed me to be part of a community of many great people that also have disabilities and who I care about very much. I'm proud that having a disability has motivated much of what I do and I'm proud that I can advocate to help make things better for others with disabilities. Today I was really happy because I was able to go and see Minions the Rise of Gru with some good friends today. I saw the actor Steve Carell who does the voice for Gru, one of the characters in the movie and when asked what he thought Minions went through life with full of pure joy and laughter. I can tell you that watching the movie today, I laughed so much and did feel a lot of joy. Plus, it was nice to be with friends because laughter and joy are best shared. What I want most (aside from all the minions) is to spread the happiness as far as I can. In that spirit, I wish everyone much joy, love and happiness now and always.
It's my parents' wedding anniversary and because I'm really happy for them, I thought I'd write about it here. My parents have gone through a lot and I think they get through things as well as they do because they have each other. My parents' example has taught me that while romance is fun and nice, maintaining a friendship and deep connection is more important and lasting. I think it's that friendship that has helped my parents continue to love and trust and rely on each other. So I write this post to honor them and all couples who also happen to be really close friends.
