Happy International Jazz Day!

Today is International Jazz day and because I like jazz music I thought I'd share one of my favorite Jazz songs called It Don't Mean a Thing sung by Cleo Laine. I really like her version of the song because it makes me want to dance and she always looks happy when she sings it. Plus, it makes me think of happy times in my life.  I found out that today is International Dance Day! This got me thinking about a lovely video I saw of people around the world dancing to Justin Timberlake's song CAN'T STOP THE FEELING!" To me, what was so nice about the video was that it showed all these people just dancing and having a good time all over the place. It made me smile to see it so I thought I"d share it here. A song for a rainy day

 It's raining where I live and that made me think of a song I like called "Hang on Little Tomato" by a group called Pink Martini. I like it because the song reminds me that things can get better, which is very comforting in times of need. I post it here in the hope that it reminds people to hang on even when things seem cloudy.  The actor Charlie Chaplin was born today in 1889 and one of the songs he's famous for performing is called "Smite". Although it's not necessarily a happy song but I saw a lovely performance of the song as part of a Royal Variety performance.  I thought I should share a clip of this performance because it made me smile.  Today is my birthday and when I think of this day, I think about how I'm really lucky to be alive and to have so many really great people in my life. In other words, most birthdays help me to count my blessings. Plus, I'm glad I was able to celebrate this birthday with friends. This quote made me think of how my Mum once bought me a placard to put on my desk that read "a messy desk is the mark of a genius."  Finally, it got to the point where there were so many papers on my desk that I had to put the sign on the window ledge next to the desk. Fun word of the day

 Since I like words, their meanings and their origins, I found a fun word today. That word is: 'widdershins" it means to go counterclockwise or "in a direction opposite to usual way". Funniest memory

 As it's April Fools day which is a day about humor and jokes, this got me thinking about a memory that still makes me laugh. I remember once, because my coworkers knew I loved Minions and because it was my 5 year work anniversary they hired someone to dress up as a Minion and come to our staff meeting. Then they sent the Minion off to go perform for a group of preschoolers which also made me happy. I remember laughing so hard my sides hurt. It was just so unexpected and funny and really nice.
