A mellow season

I always quite like autumn because (at least where I live) it's not too hot nor too cold and the leaves are prettier and more colorful. I also like going to pick apples and drinking warm apple cider and of course, decorating pumpkins. There's always been something fun to do during the autumn and that's why I like this season best and I find I feel more relaxed during this season somehow. Wherever you are reading this, I wish you a very happy autumn with many fun activities in it!

I love random acts of kindness because I feel happy when I'm doing them and the best thing about them is they can spread! I've seen how a small act of kindness like a hug can make a difference in someone else's life. You never know how much of a positive impact you can have on someone by doing something like hugging them. I figure the more people I can help to be happier the more that happiness can spread. So in the spirit kind and spreading the happiness, I wish everyone the happiest of days!

Something I'd really like to do...

If I suddenly won lots of money in the lottery I'd buy a bright yellow Volkswagen Beetle and a Minion dashboard ornament to put in it. I can't drive for health reasons so while I'd occasionally have people drive me places I need to go, I'd mainly let people borrow the car for free so they can get where they need to be. I"d also pay for gas. The only caveat I'd have is that I'd have people sign something legally binding saying the car can't be used for any sort of criminal activity and that the person borrowing the car would take care of the car when they're using it and bring the car back to me in the same condition they picked it up in. I'd really love it if the car could be used to do things like take kids to the seaside in the summer and sledding in the winter or doing random nice things for people like grocery shopping for people that need some help. That's what I'd really like to do. I'll start buying lottery tickets ASAP.

A mantra for each day

I saw this video of a father and daughter looking in a mirror and motivating his daughter to go to school. The father has his daughter recite things like: "I'm strong, I'm smart, I work hard, I am beautiful, I am respectful, I'm not better than anyone, nobody's better than me. I am amazing, I am great. If you fall, get back up." I liked the video because it's so positive and it's really nice to start out each day feeling good about being yourself and about all the good things you can do. Anyway, I send this video out to everyone in the hope it inspires everyone to see the good things inside themselves and others. Move on

It's the actress Catherine Zeta Jones's birthday and she acted in a musical called Chicago which has a song in it called "I Move On." I like this particular song because it's about not letting anything get you down.   I always like a good musical and it's funny too. Anyway, I wish everyone a very happy Tuesday.

I saw this video and I thought it was really funny. If minions interrupted newscasts I swear I'd watch the news religiously. Anyway, Happy Monday everyone!

Kindess rocks

I saw this little box when I was walking around Melrose, MA today and it was full of rocks with fun and happy sayings, quotes, and words that are meant to spread kindness. The point of the box is you take a rock from it and then decorate another rock for someone else to have and thus, the kindness spreads. I think such "Kindness Rocks" boxes are available in other places too so keep a look out for one when you're out and about and spread the kindness further!

I love singing and I do find a lot of peace in doing so. Currently, one of my favorite songs to sing is called "Everybody Needs a Best Friend" because I believe everyone needs good friends and I'm happy when I'm with friends. My hope for everyone is that they find and enjoy whatever gives them the most peace.

I like finding the beauty in things, it's more fun than focusing just on what's on the outside. I figure as long as I or another person feels pretty or good looking, then they are good looking. These ideas make me think of the song "I Feel Pretty" from the musical Westside Story because it's all about feeling pretty and that's a wonderful feeling!

I really like this quote because it’s from a man who has such a severe case of amnesia due to an illness, that he only has a 7 second memory. However, he still remembers his wife and music because he was a musician in his earlier life. I just saw a documentary about him and it showed me how powerful love and music can be.  I hope that wherever you are, there is a lot of music and much love in your life.

I really liked this quote because it made me think of when I was really young and I liked to jump in rain puddles because I liked the splash. Plus, I think the world can be wonderful sometimes even if only for a very brief moment such as when babies are born. Anyway,  I wish everyone a very happy Sunday. 

How to cheer up

I saw these tips on how to cheer up and I thought they were funny. So if you need to cheer up do one or all of the following:

Whisper 'beep boop" to yourself and keep repeating it to yourself until you don't feel sad anymore.

Plug your nose and say "sheep snoop"

Try saying "bubbles" in the angriest voice possible.

I like the idea that only one chance is needed to make something good happen. I've found it to be true in that some of the best things that have happened to me have seemed to have happened seemingly by chance. One thing I'm grateful for is that so many people in my life have given me chances to succeed and with their help I've had some really great experiences. I like this quote because i like the idea that the best and most beautiful things in life can come from the humblest of places. I also rather like flowers, they always cheer me up. On a personal level though, even if growing means having to go through shit, it's a comfort to know that great and beautiful things can come from that struggle. So I celebrate flowers and struggles!

Singin' In The Rain

It's raining where I am so naturally, that got me thinking about the musical "Singin' In The Rain."  My favorite part of that movie is the scene where Gene Kelly dances in the pouring rain. It just makes me happy to see it.  After all, dancing at least in my view, makes things seem more fun. Happy Monday everyone!

The power of a good book

I've always loved books and although reading may not solve every single one of my problems immediately,  I too believe that it can be extremely helpful in taking my mind off the trouble for a little while so I can come back to it with fresh eyes and work more effectively to resolve whatever is wrong.  With a good book I can escape into another world for a while and when I finish it, my world somehow seems better. I hope that everyone has at least one book they really enjoy. For me, that book is called "A Town Like Alice" by Neville Shute. It's a book about a woman who faces many struggles but comes out happier because of her experiences. I highly recommend it!

I really like this quote because it makes me think of all the splendid things in life. Since I’m on a quest for self improvement, I resolve to find at least one splendid thing in each day. Independent Woman

It's the singer Beyonce Knowles's  birthday and one of her hits when she was part of the musical group Destiny's Child was called "Independent Woman" which is, as its name suggests, all about being independent. I like this song because one of the things I like best about being an adult is that I'm ultimately answerable to myself. I can set my own standards for how I want to act and things I want to do and there is something very freeing about that idea. If you're reading this, I hope that you give yourself the freedom to do what makes you feel happiest.

Leap

Although I'm not promoting leaping off dangerous things like cliffs or buildings without some sort of safety harness attached to one's body, I do sometimes think that leaps of faith or a leap towards a goal is a good thing. I think the biggest leap I've taken so far is to move and live away from my family. However, I think this quote rings true at least for me, in that, even though I "leapt" and moved away, I still feel like I found  a safe place to land! So if you have a goal or something you want to do, I say leap for it!

It's the singer Gloria Estefan's birthday and I really like this quote from her because I too hope that people go and work towards their dreams. The nice thing about desires and dreams is that they can be unique to each one of us and I feel like desires and dreams are things that cannot be easily taken away. If there is a positive goal that you have, I really hope you work towards reaching it and that you do reach your goal in the end. Even though I may not know you personally, I'm still rooting for you!
