Finding peace

A sweet father daughter moment

 I saw this lovely video today of a father playing guitar for his baby daughter. I liked it because the baby looks so engaged and happy to hear her father singing and it made me smile. Finding happiness in a chore

 So cleaning dishes isn't one of my favorite things to do but the one aspect of this chore I do enjoy is when bubbles come out of the dish soap container. • I was able to go to an ice cream social which was really nice. 
• I was able to take a walk with a friend and it was fun to see her and enjoy the scenery. 
• I completed all the tasks I wanted to complete today.

In honor of Claude Debussy's birthday

The composer Claude Debussy was born today in 1862 and this got me thinking about a piece of music he composed called "Claire de lune" which always makes me feel at peace when I hear it. Thus, I post it here to send much peace, best wishes, and much love to everyone now and always.

A lovely song for today

 It's the actress Amy Adams's birthday and this got me thinking about a movie where she sang a lovely song with Lee Peace. The song is called "If I Didn't Care". I like it because it's all about caring for people and telling them about it. Plus, the music is pretty. Happy World Photo day

 It's World Photo Day which is the day that celebrates the French government bought the patent for the daguerreotype process-basically the first photography process in 1839. This got me thinking about a photo I took through a window of a rainbow. It may not be all that professional but to me, it symbolizes how, even in the darkest of times, there is always beauty and hope. Shout out to Simone Biles

 I know this late in coming but I want to give a shout out to Simone Biles because she performed so beautifully the other day and I'm just really happy she's continuing to do what she clearly loves to do and is amazing at.  I'm also really glad she made a point of taking care of her mental health. If you're reading this and you're going through difficulties, I hope you choose to take care of yourself and that you can do the things you really enjoy doing. An excited conversation

 It's become ever more apparent to me that babies are smarter than we think. What got me thinking about this is because I saw a video of a baby and her father having a conversation. I liked the video because the baby seems so excited to talk with her dad. even if it was babble to the rest of the world, it was still meninngful  It just made me smile so I thought I'd share it here. 1. I was able to take a walk with a friend which was really fun.

Spooky fun

 The director Alfred Hitchcock was born today in 1899 and although I don't typically like scary films, I do like Hitchcock's movies.  One of my favorite Hitchcock movies is called The Trouble With Harry and it's about a group of people who are trying to figure out what to do with a dead man and each person has a different reason for feeling responsible for the man's death and they work together to figure out what to do with the body. It's actually quite a fun story. Anyway, even if dark comedy isn't your thing, I hope you find things in life that make you laugh and feel good. Happy International Youth Day

It's International Youth Day and in celebration of this day, I'm sharing this clip below because it celebrates a children's choir and they just look so happy, it does my heart good to see them sing. Some music for a rainy day

 It's raining where I am and it made me think of a piece of music called "Arabesque" by Claude Debussy. I post it here because it's relaxing and does make me think of rain for some reason. Something I learned in grade school

 As August sometimes in the month where kids go back to school, it got me thinking about this lesson in science class where we learned how to open a stuck jar with hot water. If you stick a glass jar with a metal lid under hot water it makes the jar easier to open. When I was really young I always felt terribly clever when I opened jars that way. Anyway, if you're going back to school this month, I wish you every success and if you have to open a difficult-to-open jar, just stick it under some hot water!

Happy National Friendship Day

It's National Friendship Day and so I thought I'd share one of my favorite friendship stories. One day I had to go to the ER due to a sudden illness and a group of friends came with me. While we were waiting for the doctor, in an effort to make me laugh, one of my friends found a bedpan, put it on her head and started singing to me in Spanish. Then she took it off and said something to the effect of "Maggie going to the hospital is such an event, you should take a souvenir, you should take this bedpan!" I then laughed really hard until the doctor came back. Anyway, when I was discharged from the hospital and we were going back home, my friend reached into her purse and out came...the bedpan, which made me laugh more. Then a few weeks later my friend and I went to a holiday gift swap party where we all brought secret gifts for people to choose.  The present my friend brought was rather large and so a bunch of people wanted it. The final receiver of the present opened it to find the bedpan! Anyway, I'm forever grateful to have friends that bring laughter in both really hard and really fun situations. I hope that wherever you are reading this, I hope you have good friends that make you laugh.

A lovely bike ride

 Today I went on a really nice bike ride to a lake and it was just so nice to sit by the lake and enjoy the sunshine and feel happy. Wherever you are reading this, I hope you can do things each day that help you feel happiest. I send everyone best wishes and much love now and always.
