By this logic drunk people are geniuses! Ok, in all seriousness I do like the idea of seeing many sides to an issue or thing. The more I learn about something the more I realize I need to know more and see more. I don't really want to know everything because then there'd be no more to learn. So I resolve to be a happy not-genius and never stop learning.

I like this quote because I think a part of me has always stayed 6. Now, as then, I still love to hug people, I still hate peas, I'm still stubborn, I still have a temper that shows it's ugly head sometimes and I still love teddy bears. Even though some of these things may change over time, I feel strongly that I'd like a part of me to stay young.  Getting older is serious business but I think staying young at heart makes things more fun. So I've decided a part of me will stay cleverly 6 forever and ever.

It's the actor/comedian John Cleese's birthday and I like this quote from him because I believe laughter is one of the best things there is to do and I've learned a lot from laughing. I've learned that laughing makes things seem more manageable and when I find things are funny they same less intimidating. I also like laughing because it's a good thing that's contagious! In the spirit of making people laugh and because it's his birthday I thought I'd share this clip of John Cleese being interviewed by Rowan Atkinson because I thought it's pretty funny (and semi-educational). Halloween joke

As Halloween is coming up, I thought this joke was appropriate (and funny).

A photographer goes to a haunted castle determined to get a picture of a ghost on Halloween. The ghost he encounters turns out to be friendly and poses for a snapshot. The happy photographer later downloads his photos and finds that the photos are underexposed and completely blank.

Moral to the story: The spirit is willing, but the flash is weak.

A sweet ASL birthday

I saw this clip of a kindergarten class signing the Happy Birthday song to a deaf janitor and I thought it was really sweet since having those kids do that clearly made him really happy.  I also liked it because I'm learning sign language and it's a beautiful way to communicate. I wish everyone a very happy Thursday!

Dogs are babies’ best friends too

I saw this clip of a dog playing with a baby and I thought I’d share it here because I felt it was really sweet and because I like dogs, Regardless of whether you like dogs, I hope that you found many things to make you laugh today. Happy Wednesday!

A fun hotel stay for a toy

I saw this story about a little girl who accidentally left her toy rabbit at a hotel and to make the best out of the situation the hotel took pictures of the toy "living it up" at the hotel (getting spa treatment, sleeping late and having afternoon tea). The little girl did get the toy back and all was well. I just thought the story was really sweet and it reminded me of when I was really little and I left a Barbie doll at my friend's house. My friend's parents were really funny people so they sent a ransom note saying "We Have Barbie!" to my house. I did get the doll back and no ransom was required.  Losing toys can be funny like that sometimes. Happy Tuesday everyone!

I like this quote because I feel it rings true for me. When I'm doing something that might be considered work but it's something I really enjoy, it doesn't feel like work and I'm glad that I can do more of it. I really enjoy what I do for my job and even if it's not always easy, I'm rather glad that there's always more of it to do. I also like the idea that some good things might come of the work I do. My wish for everyone would be that if people have to work at something, I hope that everyone can find something that they really enjoy so it doesn't really feel like work.  I wish everyone the very best

Sunshine song

I heard this song today from Jason Mraz  called "Sunshine Song" and it made me think of all the people that bring more sunshine to my life. The song itself is all about how it's important to send sunshine to others and that if everyone did that, just think of how much brighter in spirit people could be. All we have in life is each other and I feel like if I want to make my bit of world better, I should send more light into it. So I send out this message with as much sunshine as I can send in it. Panda v. Snowman

I saw this clip of a panda trying to fight a snowman and from watching it, it’s even more clear to me that trying to fight a snowman is a losing battle. Although I am a fan of pursuing seemingly impossible dreams, if I ever get the urge to fight with snow I’ll just stick to throwing it at people! (Doing that seems much  less frustrating and infinitely more fun than fighting an inanimate object!) Happy Friday everyone!

I figure as long is you have some idea as to where you would like to be or what you would like to do, there is always hope that you can you reach your goals. Everyone I know is always going on about the importance of being true to yourself and being yourself and I agree with them (and this quote) wholeheartedly. I'm just glad I'm the only me and that I'm not alone in being only because everyone is the only one of themselves so even though we may be "onlys" in being "only" we are all one. 

My wish for everyone

Since I'm part Irish this got me thinking about blessings that I like to think Irish people say to each other (at some point at least). One such prayer is the following prayer and I like it because it's something I wish for everyone.

Uncontrollable joy

One thing that I think is so great is seeing someone so tremendously happy they just can't contain it and smile and laugh and dance all at once. Nowadays I usually see this in children mostly but when I see adults do something like that it makes my soul feel good. I saw this clip of the singer Pharrell Williams surprising a teacher who loves the song "Happy" and it warmed my heart to see it. I hope it has the same effect on others. I like the idea of friendship connecting everyone. One thing I think is nice about social media is that it allows people to connect with each other all over the globe. I have a day off today and as a result I've decided I'd like to take the advice above and rest before I feel tired, because I want to and I can. I like meeting people just because I feel my life is better because of the influence of all the people I've met. I've always liked writing and one thing I especially like about writing is that it allows me to be whoever I want to be and to say what I want to say. Think of all the things you've accomplished

I was listening today to an a woman on the radio who is an advocate for disability rights as well as an actress and she talked about how she'd been disabled by a serious injury (which she subsequently recovered from) and she also had difficulties with weight and eating disorders. Although this seems like a gloomy story, it does end happily as she is happy now and has a great career as an actress. She was saying though that in her troubles she realized how it's really important to think about the things that people accomplish rather than what they lack. She said she was happiest when she was able to love herself for who she was. This got me thinking about how people can accomplish so many great things and it is nice to think about them all sometimes, especially when one is in need of encouragement. Accomplishments don't necessarily have to be huge, they can be things like getting out of bed and facing each day no matter what comes or simply being alive in general. To me, everyone's lives have so many possibilities and that's something to celebrate!

Hope to me is one of the best things there is and even though it does require patience to remain hopeful, hope still helps me get through many things. Plus, hope does make life seem less dark because there's always the possibility that something better is coming. One song that all this makes me think of is called "Something's Coming" from the Musical West Side Story. It speaks to how we never know what's coming but there's always hope that it'll be great!

I really like this quote because I too think it's nice how people can come into your life and help you in ways you previously didn't think were possible. I for one, don't know what I'd do without the people in my life. My life is better because of all the people that have been part of it, even if it's only a short interaction, each person I meet, each encounter I have with someone helps me learn something new and I find that I  grow in the process of interacting with them.  To me, people really are blessings and that's why I love people very much. I really like this quote from Mahatma Ghandi because I like helping others. Even if the impact I have on someone else's life is only small, still find I'm happiest when I'm doing that little something that helps someone else. Doing things for others somehow rather defines the things I do on a daily basis. The trick is not to lose yourself so much in those activities that one forgets their own needs. That's something I'm still working on but I guess everyone is a work in progress, which is refreshing! 

My favorite things

It's the singer/actress Julie Andrews's birthday today and one song I'll always remember she sang is called "My Favorite things." I always like that song because it's nice to think about the good things in life and it does cheer me up when things may not be on the up and up.
