I quite agree with this quote. I've also found that throughout my childhood that my family's dog was a very good (and enthusiastic) listener. I'd tell the dog my secrets that I didn't want anyone else to know and of course telling my dog that he was a good dog-that was a prerequisite statement before anything else was said. I loved how my family's dog always seemed so excited. I found I never could feel really down when talking to my dog. There's nothing like an excited listener to lift one's spirits!
